Support That Starts With
Understanding
Every person comes to Windmill Lodge with their own experiences, abilities and support needs. Some people need help building daily routines. Some need reassurance, structure and encouragement. Others may need more consistent support because of learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or complex life circumstances.
Before support begins, we complete a pre-assessment. This helps us understand the person’s communication style, daily routines, strengths, risks, preferences and goals. From there, we can plan support that is safe, respectful and realistic for the individual.
Our Mission
To provide person-centred supported living that helps adults feel safe, respected and more confident in everyday life
Our Vision
To create a supportive environment where adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and complex support needs can develop independence, stability and a better quality of life.
Our Promise
To listen carefully, assess needs properly and provide support that is built around the person, not a fixed template.
Supported Living Built Around the Individual
Windmill Lodge Supported Living offers structured, flexible support for adults who need help with everyday life, independence and wellbeing.
Support may include help with personal routines, life skills, emotional wellbeing, appointments, community access, home organisation, tenancy responsibilities and personal care where applicable.
The aim is to provide the right level of guidance while helping each person feel more settled, more involved and more able to make choices about their future.
Support plans can be reviewed and adjusted as the person’s needs, confidence or circumstances change.
Flexible Care and Support

Learning Disability Support
We support adults with learning disabilities in a respectful and practical way. Support is shaped around each person’s abilities, communication needs, daily routines, life skills and personal goals.

Autism Support
Our autism support is built around the individual. We consider communication style, sensory needs, routines, anxiety triggers, preferences and the type of structure that helps the person feel more settled.

Mental Health Support
We support adults with mental health needs by focusing on stability, routine, confidence, emotional wellbeing and safe daily living. Support is planned carefully and reviewed when needs change.
Working With Families,
Social Workers & Commissioners
Finding the right supported living option can feel urgent, sensitive and difficult to navigate. Families want reassurance that their loved one will be understood. Professionals need clear information before making a referral, placement enquiry or funding decision.
Our team can discuss the person’s needs, explain the pre-assessment process and advise whether Windmill Lodge may be suitable.
Although we are based in Northfleet, we can discuss wider enquiries where the person’s needs, placement suitability and support arrangements may be appropriate.
How to Start Your Enquiry
1
STEP
Initial Enquiry
Contact our team to tell us about the person needing support. You may be enquiring for yourself, a family member, a loved one or someone you support professionally.
We will ask some initial questions to understand the situation, the type of support being considered and whether Windmill Lodge may be suitable.
Call 01474 553232 or complete our enquiry form to start the process.
2
STEP
Pre-Assessment
If the enquiry appears suitable, we complete a pre-assessment. This helps us understand the person’s support needs, abilities, communication style, routines, risks, preferences and goals.
Where appropriate, we may also work with families, carers, social workers, commissioners or other professionals involved in the person’s care.
3
STEP
Support Planning
After assessment, we create a support plan based on the person’s needs and agreed outcomes. This may include daily living support, accommodation-based support, community access, tenancy support, personal care where applicable or more structured support for complex needs.
4
STEP
Support Begins and Reviews Continue
Once arrangements are agreed, we help plan the start of support. This may include transition planning, settling-in support and communication with the people involved.
After support begins, we continue to review the person’s needs so support remains appropriate, respectful and responsive.
Safety, Dignity And
Clear Care Planning
Safety, dignity and respect are central to how we work. Every support plan is based on individual assessment, clear communication and regular review.
We aim to provide support that helps people feel understood, involved and more confident in daily life.
Where regulated activity applies, support will be delivered in line with relevant care standards, legal responsibilities and agreed care planning requirements.
